The Almanzora’s climate

113_boat feb in almanz

February in the Almanzora

Warm and dry
The Almanzora has the warmest and driest winters, with the most hours of sunshine in the whole of southern Spain.

In summer, Almanzora is hot and dry inland, but it’s cooler on the coast at Villaricos and Playa Marques. Desert Springs, on the plateau above the Almanzora, is cooled by pleasant sea breezes.

Sunny in winter
The Almanzora, on the fringe of the Tabernas Desert, has Europe’s only desert climate. The area boasts a year-round average of nine hours sunshine a day, and a total annual rainfall of less than seven inches. In winter, the average maximum daily temperature is 19 C (67F) from October to March.

Clear skies
The light in the Almanzora is luminous, with brilliantly clear sunny days and star-filled night skies. Europe’s only solar power-station is located here, as well as one of Europe’s most important space observatories.

Skip the Irish winter!
Because Almanzora is the warmest and driest place to be in Europe in the winter, it’s an ideal location for Irish home owners.

During the cold dark months of an Irish winter, you’ll enjoy daylight and probably sunshine until after 6 pm - even on the shortest day of the year.

You can play golf in shorts, or barbeque on the beach on Christmas Day, if that’s what takes your fancy!
